How to Get Started
If you have a question about Sleep Out, we have the answer! If you cannot find the information you need below, please contact us at 212-727-4990 or email@example.com.
We expect participants to approach the event with an open heart, an open mind, and a willingness to work hard for something outside of their comfort zone. Fundraising and awareness-raising take place before the event, and we provide coaching and materials to make the process easier for all participants. All participants are required to fundraise.
Participants in the Young Professional Edition must be:
- You are between the ages of 23-39.
- You are committed to the mission and spirit of this event.
- You will strive to raise the event's fundraising minimum in support of homeless young people with at least half raised by February 24, 2017 using the online portal provided.
Sign up online
to reserve your sleeping bag. If you have questions about signing up, call us at 212-727-4990 and we can sign you up over the phone.
Safety is our first and foremost concern whether it is for the young people we serve or for our supporters and guests at events. We will take all necessary precautions to ensure you are safe. And while the spirit of the event is to sleep outside, there will be space available to sleep in a sheltered area inside should there be extreme weather.
All attendees must be registered, fundraising participants over the age of 23 . Please contact us
to determine the eligibility of your friend or family member.
We suggest you bring weather-appropriate layers of clothing, personal toiletries and medications, and a smartphone (if you use one). We will provide a new sleeping bag, or you can bring your own. Secure storage will be provided for one personal bag per participant.
Please refrain from bringing any luxury bedding items, pillows, etc. as we expect you to sleep rough for one night in solidarity with homeless kids. We do not recommend that you sleep outside with any valuable items. We also ask that you refrain from bringing alcohol; Sleep Out is always a dry event.
