On November 16th, I will Sleep Out again - so that homeless youth don't have to.
Sleeping Out the last 5 years has been truly special. My wife Ginny and I came to New Orleans as newlyweds in 1986 to start Covenant House. We have long been committed to homeless and at-risk youth. After departing to work in other ministries (most recently Catholic Charities), I served on the board of Covenant House both in New Orleans and on the international board in New York.
I returned in 2011, drawn by the increasing plight of at-risk youth in our city. Over the past six years, our average daily census has grown from 40 to 174 youth and children. They are ALL good kids desperately in need of help getting off the streets.
Our first goal is to try and reunite them with family; if not possible, we provide assistance finding a job, saving for an apartment, and more. As we're 79 percent dependent on charitable donations, we're hopeful that you would consider donating to help us reach our goal.
We thank you for your support and prayers.
