I'm Sleeping Out
I am taking part in the 2017 Sleepout to support an extremely vulnerable population in our community – homeless youth. On any given night in St. Louis, more than 2,000 teens sleep on the streets. They are young people from all backgrounds, from all races, from the city and the county. In most cases, they make this choice to escape home lives that include abuse, neglect or chronic poverty.
On a daily basis, they face struggles most of us can't begin to imagine. I participated in the 2013 Sleepout, and as we headed out to the parking lot for the night, a young man of 15 or 16 at Covenant House said to me, "I'm glad they gave you a piece of cardboard. The nights without cardboard are the worst." As the mother of three teenagers, I feel compelled to help.
Thank you so much for your support!
