Giving up the comforts of home to spend one night on the streets is a simple and compassionate expression of solidarity with our youth. You will also meet our brave kids and hear their inspirational stories, hopes, and dreams.
We expect participants to approach the event with an open heart, an open mind, and a willingness to work hard for something outside of their comfort zone. Fundraising and awareness-raising take place before the event, and we provide coaching and materials to make the process easier for all participants. All participants are required to fundraise.
Current committed sleepers range in age from 34-80.
Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 504-584-1141.
We hope you will raise awareness by telling at least 50 friends (email contacts) about your participation, and suggest a goal of raising $2,000 to support homeless and at-risk youth in New Orleans. The average sleeper raised over $2,500 last year. We provide a personal webpage and all the tools/resources you need to reach your goal. (The minimum fundraising requirements are $500 for first time participants, and $1,000 for returning participants.)
To give up your bed for a night. We will provide a sleeping bag, a cardboard box, security, and a memorable experience.
You’re welcome to bring your own sleeping bag if you prefer, as well as any personal/toiletry items. We suggest storing valuables in your vehicle overnight, but a secure room will be available for your belongings.
Due to space constraints, only registered participants are allowed to attend the Sleep Out. Couples/friends are welcome to register jointly and combine their fundraising minimums into a single profile.
