Sleep Out: New Orleans

Team Loyola Law & Poverty Center

Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and its Gillis Long Poverty Law Center are so proud to support Covenant House, an organization that has provided a safe haven for homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth in our city for 30 years, helping them leave the streets, achieve stability, and either reunite with family or build the skills and resources needed for independent living.

We’re delighted to show our support for their dedicated staff & volunteers – and the many youth they care for. In the past six years, their average daily census has grown from 45 to 170 kids a night. They are ALL good kids desperately in need of help getting off the streets. Covenant House’s first goal is to try and reunite them with family; if not possible, they provide assistance finding a job, saving for an apartment, and much more.

We will spend the night sleeping out on the sidewalk - with nothing but sleeping bags and cardboard boxes - as an expression of solidarity with their youth. To support our team, please click "Donate Now" - or select an individual team member.

Covenant House is the HIGHEST RATED non-profit in Louisiana (by Charity Navigator, the nation's premier charity evaluator), so you can be confident that your support would be used effectively and efficiently. They are also 79% dependent on private donations to continue their critical work.

Thank you for considering a gift to help us reach our goal.
