By the time I sleep out in Newark on April 28, I will have been serving Covenant House for 6,327 days.
They have been the best days of my life.
For 6,327 days, I've been filled by the privilege of bearing witness to daily miracles of homeless and trafficked kids finding the strength and hope to turn their lives around. I've seen how smart and funny and sweet and giving they can be, despite all they've seen, heard and lived. For 6,327 days, heroes - incredible men and women who devote themselves to this work - have surrounded me. They are underpaid, underappreciated, overworked and WAY overtired...but never, ever give up. For 6,327 days, I've been introduced to the world's most generous supporters who live and breathe this mission and make it a part of their families, their companies, their places of worship, everything...giving of themselves financially and otherwise because they've decided that HOMELESS KIDS DO MATTER.
As long as this mission will have me and our world has kids without homes, I will be serving them. And if we end homelessness, well...either way I win.
So, I'm asking you - the family and friends who have supported me from 1999 through today on this crazy and most beautiful journey - to do so yet again. I strive to raise a dollar for each day that the sun has risen and allowed me to bring my heart to The Cov.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for every single dollar you're able to give.
