I will be "homeless" on March 24th, 2017. Myself and others will sleep in a cardboard box below the warm windows of Covenant House of Pennsylvania where formerly homeless youth watch from their home.
Taking part in this last year, by far the most impactful part is hearing the stories of the youths. They all told their stories about their lives and how they ended up at the Cov. House with a sincerity and vulnerabiilty that many of us - myself included - find difficult to practice. The way they talked about where they are now, it was hard to not be moved by how far they've come and how important this work is.
The Covenant House is a program for transformation. We serve the kids with absolute love and respect but they are required to follow certain rules of the program. Because of this, some of the kids fight the program initially and may leave it before returning and surrendering to the pretty significant structure it gives their lives.
Sadly, the Covenant House of Pennsylvania had to turn away 512 youths last year due to lack of beds and capacity. That's pretty simply why we're doing this - so that when the kids are ready for a home and a program to transform their lives, we can be there for them.
Please join us in helping them and making a financial contribution. Your contribution will make a concrete, immediate and lasting impact in individual lives and our wider community.
