Scott and Ashley Pickett are partaking in the Covenant House Sleep Out for the second year in a row in an effort to raise money for the Covenant House. The Covenant House is a phenomenal non-profit focused on assisting our homeless youth. What we love about the Covenant House is that it does so much more than just provide shelter, it provides youth with the tools they need to succeed in society. It boasts its own high school helping youth obtain their high school diplomas, assists them in finding jobs, setting up savings accounts and ensuring these youth have the necessary resources to become contributing members of our society.
Thousands of kids spend each night on the unforgiving streets of our great cities, so we will too, in the safe confines of The Cov, to bring awareness and raise money for the homeless youth. Last year it was extremely uncomfortable and quite cold, and Scott even got a little scared, but it was extremely rewarding.
Please do not feel obligated to donate, but if you are so inclined and able, we can tell you first hand that your money will be going towards a great cause.
• $100 provides a week of meals for two kids
• $275 provides medical care for one teenager or young adult
• $500 trains a volunteer to serve these young people
• $1,000 provides a young man or woman with job training and employment preparation
Our Instagram on the night of Friday March 24 will be document our experience. We will also be donating toothbrushes compliments of Global Grins.
Since 1972, Covenant House has been available to meet the immediate needs of young people, with a hot meal and a safe bed - and to help them further their education, get a job, find permanent housing. In essence, Covenant House helps these kids step into a brighter future. By participating and fundraising we hope to do our small part to make sure the doors stay open for all who need them.
