Sleep Out: Executive Edition

Atlanta

On November 15, business leaders and executives from all across the country-along with Covenant House staff- will sleep on the streets in solidarity with nearly a million homeless young people.

Did you know that each night there are hundreds of homeless teens living on the streets of our community, alone in our parks, sleeping at the airport, riding the Marta line for a place to rest, and hiding under area bridges? Covenant House Georgia (“CHGA”) provides a crisis shelter and a full array of services to these young people to provide them a safe future off of the streets. Currently, CHGA operates a 15-bed crisis shelter that is overflowing past capacity every night, sleeping an additional 10 kids on mats in lounges. Alarmingly, over the past year, in addition to the 25 kids we serve at the shelter each night, we have maintained a waiting list of over 160 youth seeking safe harbor from the streets.

CHGA is in the process of purchasing and renovating a facility that will allow us to more than quadruple the number of kids we serve. The new shelter will host a 60-bed crisis facility and a 28-bed independent living facility. Together with hundreds of business leaders in cities across the US, Canada and Latin America, the Sleep Out will bring awareness and support to these kids by raising money to help Covenant House expand and continue its life-saving work for these kids who have nowhere else to turn.

The Candelight Vigil will be at Centennial Olympic Park Southern Company Amphitheatre.
