Business Leaders Sleeping Outside, So Homeless Youth Don't Have To...

Tonight in St. Louis, over 2,000 teens will be sleeping under a bridge, in an abandoned building or in other dangerous places. These kids are fleeing a life of abuse, neglect and chronic poverty. They truly believe there is nowhere else to turn. Most people find it surprising that 45% of these kids come from outside of the City of St. Louis.

Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) is the only non-profit organization dedicated to serving homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth in the St. Louis area and beyond. The kids we serve are between the ages of 16 and 21 and are not in the foster care system. Our “open-intake” policy is unique among other agencies; youth alone make the choice to enter and remain at Covenant House Missouri rather than being sent by the state or judicial system.

We empower these youth to live independently and become contributing members of our community. Our wrap-around services include basics like food, shelter, clothing, medical assistance, as well as educational and employment resources, counseling, legal services and more. Our goal is to assist these youth on their journey toward a productive, more fulfilling life..

You can learn more about Covenant House Missouri at our website - www.covenanthousemo.org.

We’re excited to be a part of this 11-city Executive Sleep Out event on November 15, as business and community leaders "sleep out" one night to raise awareness and funding to bring hope to homeless youth throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. The date intentionally coincides with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week as a symbolic reminder that together, we can make a difference for those who need our help.

We thank you in advance for supporting our executives who will be sleeping out on November 15, 2012 so homeless youth don’t have to.
