Each night in Chicago, as many as 3,000 unaccompanied youth spend the night homeless. With only 375 units of housing serving this population, the need for increased shelter, along with accessibility to health care, case management services, legal help, and job training, is immediate.
For more than 40 years, Covenant House has existed to provide young people with safe shelter and wrap-around social services so they can move forward to an adulthood free of violence, poverty, and the threat of homelessness.
Covenant House Illinois, the newest site in the Covenant House family, aims to bring these services and more to the undeserved youth in Chicago’s homeless community and to further expand the Covenant House mission of protecting and safeguarding all homeless youth and serving the community with absolute love and respect.
You can make a big difference for homeless youth.
Sign up to Sleep Out with us. Spend one evening getting to know some of the youth whose lives will be better because of your work - and spend the rest of the night sleeping on the street in their place.
When you Sleep Out - it means homeless youth don’t have to. Young people are changed by every interaction with someone who genuinely cares for them. The Sleep Out offers every participant the chance to be someone who cares. All the funds you raise are put to work immediately - providing food, clothing, medical & behavioral healthcare, individual & family counselling, job readiness training & placement, educational support, life skills development, and more.
Covenant House exists to provide these young people with safe shelter and wrap-around social services including education and job training so they can move forward to an adulthood free of violence, poverty, and the threat of homelessness.
